Answers before you take the leap
Starting therapy comes with plenty of questions. Here are the ones we hear most — and if yours isn't here, just ask.
Your first session is mostly about getting to know each other. Your clinician will ask what brought you in, what you're hoping to change, and a little about your history. There's no pressure to share more than you're ready to — you set the pace.
Standard individual sessions run about 50 minutes. Couples and family sessions may run slightly longer (60–75 minutes) depending on your clinician's approach and your needs. Your exact session length will be confirmed when you book.
Most people start with weekly sessions, then taper to every other week or monthly as they progress. Your clinician will work with you to find a rhythm that supports your goals without overloading your schedule.
Yes. What you share in session is protected by law and by our strict HIPAA-compliant practices. There are a small number of legally required exceptions — such as immediate risk of harm to you or someone else — and your clinician will explain these clearly at the start.
We work with a range of major insurance plans, and we also offer sliding scale options for those who need them. Our Insurance & Fees page covers the details, and our care team can verify your specific coverage before you book.
The relationship with your clinician is one of the strongest predictors of progress — so if it isn't the right fit, that matters. Just let us know and we'll match you with someone else. No awkwardness, no hard feelings.
Yes. Every service we offer is available both in person and via secure telehealth. Many clients mix the two depending on their week. Online sessions are held to the same confidentiality and quality standards.
You don't need a crisis to benefit from therapy. If something has felt heavy, stuck or repetitive for a while, that's reason enough. If you're unsure, reach out — a short conversation with our team can help you decide with no obligation.
Session fees vary by service and clinician. We're transparent about all costs up front, work with major insurers, and offer sliding scale slots. Reach out and we'll give you the exact numbers for your situation before you commit.
This site isn't monitored around the clock. If you're in crisis or immediate danger, call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room. Our Crisis Support page lists 24/7 hotlines and immediate resources.
